The Journey Begins: RECONQUISTA – Season 1 of "The Lords of Wisdom"

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of a monumental chapter in the Last Knight universe. RECONQUISTA, the opening episode of our new musical trilogy "The Lords of Wisdom", is finally here. Due to its massive scale and a runtime exceeding two hours, this epic narrative has been divided into two parts, beginning a journey that blends history, myth, and symphonic grandeur.

The Historical Canvas

The album transports us back to the year 711, a turning point in history following the Battle of Guadalete and the fall of the Visigothic Kingdom. From the ashes of the Muslim conquest, the first Christian kingdoms began to emerge in the Iberian Peninsula. RECONQUISTA is not a collection of medieval music, but rather a contemporary and singular vision of the Middle Ages, designed to be a fully immersive experience for lovers of symphonic rock.

A Tapestry of Sound and Influence

Musically, the album is a powerhouse of orchestral narratives mixed with rock and folk. Listeners will find echoes of the early The Alan Parsons Project (specifically the atmosphere of "In The Middle Ages") and the experimental spirit of early Mike Oldfield.

The breathtaking orchestrations, reminiscent of the legendary Andrew Powell, are brought to life by the Somnus Symphony Orchestra and Choir, providing a cinematic backbone to the entire work.

A World-Class Collaboration

To achieve such a solid and compact sound across such a diverse range of styles, we have been joined by an incredible roster of international talent:

  • Vocals: The powerful voices of Mariano Gardella (Argentina) and Deibys Artigas (Venezuela) join our longtime collaborator, the British vocalist Marc Atkinson.

  • Instrumentation: The work features the brilliant multi-instrumentalist Rafael Pacha, whose arrangements were vital in bringing Jose Manuel Medina’s vision to life.

  • Returning Members: Nelson Pombal (guitars) and Pablo Lato (bass) return to the project to lend their signature touch.

  • Special Guests: We are honored to feature Troy Donockley (Iona, Nightwish) on Celtic instruments, Nigerian violinist Victor Adebisi, Algerian guitarist Kheiro Lamri, and Jeff Duncan on drums.

The Art of Production

Crafting an album of this magnitude was no easy feat. The production, led by Jose Manuel Medina, faced numerous hurdles—from lost recordings that had to be painstakingly recovered to the complex coordination of musicians across the globe.

"It is a challenge to blend a cinematic soundtrack feel with rock elements and maintain a cohesive result. Without Rafael Pacha’s deep understanding of this vision, this project would have been nearly impossible to realize." — Jose Manuel Medina

What’s Next?

This is only the beginning. While this first installment focuses on the dawn of the resistance, the second part of this episode, titled "The Fall of Al-Andalus", will be released shortly after "Asturias".

Prepare your headphones, let your imagination travel to the past, and join us in this symphonic recreation of one of history’s most intense eras.

Musical Highlights

Among the vast landscape of the album, three tracks stand out as the pillars of this production:

  • "In The Middle Ages": A track that captures the essence of the early The Alan Parsons Project.

  • "War": A powerful display of hard rock intensity.

  • "The Kingdom of Galicia": The album's crown jewel—a 16-minute suite that showcases the full symphonic-prog potential of the project.

Release Date

The album is currently in the manufacturing process and is set to be released in early May 2026.

This is only the beginning. While this first installment focuses on the dawn of the resistance, the second part of this episode, titled "The Fall of Al-Andalus", will follow shortly after the release of "Asturias".
